On April 2, Chelsea decided to dismiss manager Graham Potter, after Thomas Tuchel had already been sacked earlier this season. Frank Lampard was appointed as interim manager while the Londoners were looking for a new permanent head coach.

Pochettino quickly emerged as one of the top candidates and according to British media, Chelsea has now reached an agreement with the Argentine. Both The Athletic and The Telegraph report that both parties have reached a deal and Pochettino's appointment will be announced in the coming days.

The 51-year-old coach is returning to the Premier League after three and a half years, where he previously coached Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur. From January 2021 to July 2022, Pochettino was the coach of Paris Saint-Germain.

Pochettino faces a daunting task at Stamford Bridge. After an extremely chaotic season, Chelsea are currently eleventh with no hope of any form of European football.
