According to the French newspaper L'Équipe, Antoine Griezmann could potentially become the big transfer of this summer. The media outlet reports that the 118-time international for Les Bleus can be acquired from Atlético Madrid for a relatively low fee.

This is surprising considering that his contract, as the 2018 World Cup winner, runs until mid-2025. Additionally, there is an option included that allows the Madrid-based club to extend his contract for another year.

However, Atlético no longer holds full control over Griezmann's future. This summer, a clause is set to come into effect, enabling other clubs to acquire the striker for a fee of €25 million. This sudden availability has made the Frenchman a sought-after target for top international clubs.

Griezmann had an excellent season at Atlético, scoring sixteen goals and providing nineteen assists in all official matches. Therefore, coach Diego Simeone is determined to keep the experienced player on board and is reluctant to let him go.

Griezmann himself is not necessarily eager to leave La Liga. However, according to the French reports, he is keeping his options open. Paris Saint-Germain reportedly sees the world champion as a suitable candidate to replace Kylian Mbappé, who seems likely to leave Paris. Griezmann could earn a significantly higher salary in his home country.

With the leaked transfer fee, it seems only a matter of time before other clubs approach Griezmann and his entourage. This could potentially lead him to seek new opportunities outside of Spain for the first time in fourteen years.
