Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone expects his team to be able to compete for the title next year. He believes that his team wasn't good enough this season but does not think that a spectacular transformation needs to take place.

With just one game left, Atlético can finish either second or third, but the reality is that Barcelona has become the champion with a significant lead. In the background, Atlético is preparing the squad for the upcoming year. "Caglar Söyüncü will strengthen us, as will Santiago Mouriño," Simeone refers to the defenders from Leicester City and Racing Montevideo in an interview with COPE. "During the preparations, we will assess what else we need."
Atlético may part ways with Yannick Carrasco. Simeone confirms that the forward has Barcelona as an option. "He has Barcelona as a possibility, so there is a chance he might leave. If he stays, he will give his best and give everything for us. I want the best players to stay, but if he goes, I wish him the best." It is rumored that Carrasco has a release clause of twenty million euros in his contract.
As for the rumors surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo, Simeone is more than clear. "I never made an attempt for him. They may have told you that, but I don't lie. How many goals would he score for us? Ronaldo couldn't come to Atlético, just as I could never be the coach of Real Madrid."
