Uli Hoeness, honorary chairman of Bayern Munich, believes that Saudi Arabia will play an even greater role in the football world in the near future.

The former German international, who was at the helm of Bayern Munich between 2009 and 2014, as honorary chairman, has influence over the direction that Der Rekordmeister aims to take in the coming years. Hoeness regularly speaks with current CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (member of the supervisory board), and coach Thomas Tuchel about the club's future.
"We meet once a week to discuss various issues," Hoeness told Sky. "The matters we discuss remain within a small group, and that's for the best. But the club has now settled down."
On the day Bayern clinched the German title in a spectacular fashion at the expense of Borussia Dortmund, CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic were sidelined. "Karl-Heinz and I have pledged to help the club until all the key positions within the club are filled again."
Hoeness expects that Bayern and other top clubs will face increasing competition from Saudi Arabia in the transfer market, where Karim Benzema has settled and Cristiano Ronaldo has been active for the past six months. "I am very concerned about what is yet to come from Saudi Arabia. They seem to have endless financial resources," said the honorary chairman of Bayern.
