Joselu played for Real Madrid from 2011 to 2012 as well. He didn't have a breakthrough at that time, but now he's getting a new chance. "I want to apologize to my wife and children because this is one of the happiest days of my life," Joselu laughs during his presentation at the Bernabéu. "When you leave, you always dream of coming back. Today is that day. I am very proud and happy to have this opportunity."

Joselu will wear the number fourteen jersey at Real Madrid. "Every number is important, but getting a number from one to twenty-five at the best club in the world is something incredible. I will give everything for Real Madrid. It is the club of my life. I have scored goals throughout my career, and hopefully, that will continue."

After Karim Benzema's departure, it became clear that Real Madrid was aiming for Joselu's arrival. "A few days ago, we reached an agreement with Real Madrid. I didn't tell anything to my children, and I think my wife still doesn't believe it, haha."

Joselu ended up at Espanyol after stints at TSG Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hannover 96, Newcastle United, and Alavés. Due to the club's relegation, Real Madrid was able to pick up Joselu on favorable terms.
