Lijnders further completes the coaching staff at Salzburg with Dutch opponent

Pepijn Lijnders has further completed his coaching staff for the upcoming season. The Dutch coach will have Onur Cinel, in addition to Vitor Matos – who, like Lijnders, came from Liverpool – at his disposal at RB Salzburg next season.

Cinel was already active in Salzburg last season as an interim coach. He came over from FC Liefering and even took over as head coach from Gerhard Struber for the final six matches.

Despite an impressive 7-1 victory over LASK Linz, he couldn't prevent Salzburg from missing out on the Austrian championship for the first time after ten consecutive league titles.

The 38-year-old coach previously made a name for himself in the youth academy of Schalke 04, which led to his appointment as head coach at FC Liefering. During his time at Schalke, he was known for developing young talents and implementing a strong youth program. His success at Schalke caught the attention of FC Liefering, where he continued to build on his reputation as a skilled coach.

In addition to his work in Salzburg, he is an assistant coach for the Austrian national team, with whom he will first participate in the Euros, facing teams including the Netherlands, before joining the preparations in Salzburg. His dual roles underscore his versatility and commitment to coaching at both the club and national levels.

"Everything I have seen in Salzburg so far has given me a very positive and professional impression," said Cinel. "The club gives players the perfect opportunity to further develop, and I want to contribute to that with my work." His statement reflects his enthusiasm for the club's vision and his dedication to player development.

Matos and Cinel are replacing Alexander Hauser and Florens Koch, who were part of the first team's coaching staff last season. Hauser and Koch will remain involved with the club in different roles, ensuring that their experience and knowledge continue to benefit Salzburg. This transition marks a new phase for the coaching staff, bringing fresh perspectives while maintaining continuity within the club.

Lijnders, who has been shaping the technical staff for the upcoming season, has brought in these new additions to bolster the team's coaching capabilities. Both Matos and Cinel bring valuable experience and new ideas to the table, aligning with Lijnders' vision for the future of Salzburg.

Cinel's previous experience as an interim head coach and his role with the national team highlight his tactical acumen and ability to manage at high levels of competition. His arrival, alongside Matos, who also comes with a strong background from Liverpool, signifies a strategic move to enhance the club's overall performance and player development pathways.

As Salzburg prepares for the new season, the integration of Matos and Cinel into the coaching setup is expected to bring renewed energy and strategic depth. Their combined expertise will be crucial in navigating the challenges ahead and striving for success in both domestic and European competitions. The club's commitment to fostering young talent and maintaining high standards is evident in these appointments, setting a positive tone for the future.
