Romelu Lukaku looked back on his eventful transfer summer during a press conference with the Belgian national team on Wednesday. The captain of the Red Devils swapped Chelsea for AS Roma, even though both Inter Milan and Juventus had hoped for his arrival.

Lukaku will lead Belgium in the UEFA European Championship qualification match against Austria on Friday and will also wear the captain's armband for the Belgians. The striker arrived at the Belgium training camp with a positive feeling.
In his first few months at Roma, Lukaku found the net seven times in eight matches. Last summer, it appeared that the forward would sign with another Serie A club.

Inter hoped to extend Lukaku's stay after a loan period, but the Nerazzurri were not pleased when the Belgian international was reportedly considering a move to Juventus as well. Subsequently, Inter decided to pull the plug on a potential transfer deal with Chelsea and Lukaku. 'There has been a lot of bullshit,' Lukaku said during a press conference about the transfer saga from last summer.
'Most of you in the room know me,' said the striker addressing the Belgian journalists present. 'You know I don't like to beat around the bush. I will speak at the right time, but if I were to really say how everything went last summer, everyone would be shocked. The biggest nonsense I read? That I had told that I was going to a particular club. That made no sense. There were moments when I could have exploded. Maybe I would have done that five years ago, but now I haven't wasted my energy on it.'
