Gakpo didn't score, but he received highly praising words from his manager after the match. "He is an amazing, football-intelligent person. I've never felt that he is only 24; he is very young. He was the captain at his previous club (PSV, red.), which is very special," Klopp said in an interview with the club channel.

Klopp, who increased the pressure on Manchester United with Liverpool's victory, immediately recognized Gakpo as a top player. "Then you meet him, and you think: ah, okay, now I understand. He breathes football. He translates every piece of information we give him onto the field. He played in a position where he hadn't played before, I think, but he enjoys it, and we need him there. It's really fantastic."

The German coach also praises the versatility of the Dutch international. "He can play in three, four positions in this system. That's very useful. He has adapted very quickly." Gakpo has played sixteen Premier League matches so far, scoring six goals and providing three assists.
