For Hamer, the transfer is a wonderful crowning of his strong performances in the Championship. The former Feyenoord player spent three seasons at Coventry City in England's second tier.

He stood out there with his dynamism. Hamer scored nine times and provided ten assists in the Championship last season. With Coventry, he missed out on promotion due to a defeat at Wembley in the decisive playoff against Luton Town.

Now, Hamer has taken the upward step he deserves. The former Dutch youth international with Brazilian roots has signed a four-year contract with Sheffield. "I can't really believe that I'm going to play for Sheffield United," he said at Bramall Lane after the photo moment.

In the classic stadium, Sheffield United will start the new Premier League season this Saturday. The promoted team will face Crystal Palace.
