John van 't Schip has been critical of the individuals running Ajax ahead of De Klassieker. The former player of the Amsterdam-based club believes that there needs to be a 'clean sweep' from the top, as he mentioned on ESPN.

Van 't Schip can hardly comprehend all that has gone wrong at Ajax in recent years. 'I don't know the ins and outs precisely, but since Overmars' departure, a lot of mistakes have been made. There haven't been any good decisions.'
'Whoever appointed Mislintat doesn't understand football,' he continues. 'Maurits Hendriks and Edwin van der Sar seem to be the ones who played an important role in that. The supervisory board also played a crucial role as a controlling body, but at that time, there were people on it who didn't have a real connection to the club. Danny Blind had already left, and Jan van Halst had not yet been appointed.'
Van 't Schip believes that firing Mislintat and coach Maurice Steijn will not solve the crisis at Ajax. 'No, there needs to be a reorganization from the top. That's what happens in large companies as well. Cruyff did it in a similar way earlier.'
By the way, the 59-year-old Van 't Schip was approached for a position on the board of directors at Ajax in January. The Dutch-Canadian declined the offer at the time and also has no plans to accept such a proposal in the future. 'I want to have an executive role.'
