Ancelotti: 'We think we are on the right side'

Carlo Ancelotti is confident about the second semifinal against Bayern Munich. The Real Madrid coach must reach the Champions League final at their own Bernabéu, but the Madrilenians are optimistic.

The first match in Munich was full of spectacle and ended in a 2-2 draw.

The decision will be made in Madrid on Wednesday evening. 'We are excited because it is a great opportunity to reach the final. Of course, it will be difficult, but we are in good form and very motivated to do well,' Ancelotti said at his press talk. 'The clubs are similar, they both have a great history and have had a lot of success in the Champions League.'

Ancelotti has his reasons to be optimistic for the upcoming match against Bayern. 'I am confident because we are Real Madrid, because of our team, but also because of the fans. We think we are on the right side, but Thomas Tuchel (Bayern coach, ed.) will think he is on the right side. We are looking forward to a spectacular match.'

Ancelotti is once again facing his old club, where he was coach for just over one season. During that period, Ancelotti won the German Super Cup twice and the Bundesliga once. Yet, the collaboration ended quickly. 'We need to work with the support of the club. If there is no support, it is better to part ways, as happened with Bayern. I still have a fantastic relationship with the management.'

Ancelotti did not want to delve too deeply into what happened at Bayern and focus purely on Wednesday's match. He repeated that Andriy Lunin will be in goal. Thibaut Courtois made his return on Saturday after a long injury, but Lunin is still trusted. 'That does not change after one game. Thibaut Courtois is a good goalkeeper, but he needs time to get back to level.'
