Despite the victory against Real Madrid last Sunday, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín was not pleased with Real Madrid's behavior towards the referees. The CEO of Atlético Madrid accuses their major rival of 'creating a hostile atmosphere against referees'.

Gil Marín launches an attack against 'The Royal' [De Koninklijke, a nickname for Real Madrid] after the match, speaking to the Spanish newspaper Marca. According to Gil Marín, conspiracy theories suggesting that Spanish referees are against Real Madrid have been circulating on Real Madrid's club channels. 'The people on the club channels are fans; they have to do this or they risk losing their jobs.'

'But Real Madrid is distorting the competition in this manner. They create a hostile atmosphere and the arguments they use would normally be laughable, if not for the fact that I believe the competition is truly being distorted in this way,' says the CEO.

Real's coach, Carlo Ancelotti, dismisses the allegations, as he mentioned in the press conference after the match against Las Palmas. 'I don't pay attention to things the owner of Atlético says,' stated Ancelotti. 'It's normal to question whether the referees are doing their job well.'

'I think sometimes they get it quite wrong, but that happens. No one is perfect,' he concludes.
