Sevilla have officially unveiled Alfon González as their first signing ahead of the new season in La Liga, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter for both player and club.

Born in 1999 in Albacete, Alfon arrives with determination, ambition, and a profile that has clearly convinced the club's leadership. The move is being seen not only as a promising sporting acquisition but also as a statement of intent from Sevilla, who are aiming to rejuvenate their squad with talent that fits the club's values and long-term vision as they look to climb back into the upper echelons of Spanish football.

Sporting director Antonio Cordón was enthusiastic during the player’s presentation, highlighting how thoroughly Alfon had been evaluated by the club’s recruitment team. “This is a player who has been thoroughly scouted by Víctor Orta and his entire team. They were alert and moved quickly to get ahead of many other clubs. When I was told the deal was done, I was really pleased, because I believe he's going to bring a lot to the group,” Cordón said. He described the 24-year-old winger as quick, brave, and intelligent someone who thrives in one-on-one situations, is tactically disciplined, and has the awareness to make the right runs at the right moments.

Addressing some of the speculation surrounding the transfer, Cordón also clarified the terms of Alfon’s arrival. The player had a clause in his contract allowing him to move for a fixed fee, and while he had several offers on the table, he ultimately chose Sevilla. “That decision says a lot about the kind of person and professional he is,” Cordón added. “He believes in what we’re building here.”

During his first press conference as a Sevilla player, Alfon displayed confidence, humility, and clarity about his ambitions. Speaking about his decision to join Sevilla, he said: “Sevilla is a massive club with a rich history and even greater ambition for growth. I truly believe we’re going to have a great season, competing higher up the La Liga table. That’s the motivation I bring with me along with a strong work ethic, which is how things get done.”

Alfon revealed that he never had doubts about his choice. “I knew exactly where I wanted to be Sevilla. This was the step I needed to take in order to keep growing. I’m full of excitement and really happy to be here,” he said.

When asked about his preferred position, the new signing explained that although he was deployed mainly on the left wing last season, he doesn’t see himself as restricted to that role. “I believe I can contribute in several roles and fit into various tactical systems. That kind of versatility is important, and it gives the manager more options,” he stated, making it clear that he’s ready to adapt to the team’s needs and help wherever he’s needed.

Alfon also spoke highly of the atmosphere he found upon arrival in Seville. “It’s been a very quick adaptation. The squad is amazing they welcomed me from day one. I’m eager to keep working and adjust to what the coach is asking of me. But I can already say there’s a great group dynamic here, and that’s essential if we want to achieve our goals,” he noted.

As for his personal goals, the former Celta man made it clear that he’s grounded. “My goal is to contribute as much as possible, every day, wherever I'm needed. Of course, every player wants to play as much as they can, but I have my feet on the ground,” he said.

Alfon also offered praise for head coach Matías Almeyda, who is overseeing his first full preseason at Sevilla. “He’s a coach who has brought a lot of intensity from the first day. He’s full of energy and you can really feel it. It’s something we appreciate because it helps us maintain a high rhythm and that’s something we definitely have,” Alfon remarked, echoing the general sentiment around Almeyda’s energetic leadership style.

Reflecting on his departure from Celta, the player expressed only gratitude. “Celta is a club I care about deeply and respect a lot. But in life, sometimes you have to make decisions. I made this one because I believe it’s the best for me. I have only good things to say they treated me really well during my time there. It’s a great club with great fans. I’m very grateful to them and wish them nothing but the best.”

When asked if he felt he had made the ideal choice, Alfon didn’t hesitate. “Yes, I made this move because I believe Sevilla is the perfect club to continue my development. At the end of the day, I have certain values, and I think Sevilla embodies them very well. To move forward, we need humility, daily hard work, and the mindset of growing step by step,” he said.

He also spoke about his admiration for Sevilla icon Jesús Navas, who remains a symbol of longevity and dedication. “I hadn’t really thought about that one. Sevilla has had some truly great players, historic figures like Jesús Navas. I believe in the club’s values humility, hard work on a daily basis and from what my teammates have told me, it was incredible to watch him train. Jesús is a role model for all of us.”

Finally, he touched on the adaptation to the physical demands of preseason in Seville, saying, “The difference is just a few extra degrees in temperature, but I’m really happy with Guido Bonini and the entire coaching staff. I think they’re doing an outstanding job, getting us into top physical shape, which is crucial if we want to sustain a high tempo throughout every match.”

In both tone and substance, Alfon’s first words as a Sevilla player resonated strongly with the club’s traditional values of hard work, humility, and ambition. As Sevilla prepare to compete in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues, La Liga, fans will be eager to see how this versatile and motivated addition contributes to what promises to be an exciting and demanding campaign.
