Backup goalkeeper of PSG leaves hospital after three months and considers comeback

Sergio Rigo, the goalkeeper who ended up in a hospital at the end of May after an accident involving a horse, has been discharged after nearly three months to continue rehabilitation at home. The goalie was kept in an induced coma for three weeks, but now seems to be able to consider a comeback. Rigo is still under contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

After winning last season's championship, the PSG players were given a few days off. During those days, the 29-year-old Rico embarked on a pilgrimage from his hometown Sevilla to El Rocio. It was during this pilgrimage that the accident occurred.

In early July, Rico was allowed to leave the intensive care unit, and over a month later, his wife announced that the goalkeeper had been discharged from the hospital. Rico underwent an operation for an aneurysm, reportedly done to give him a chance to resume his goalkeeper career at the highest level, according to Le Parisien.

Rico still has a contract with PSG that runs until mid-2024. Gianluigi Donnarumma is the first-choice goalkeeper in Paris, and this summer Arnau Tenas was acquired from Barcelona
