Xavi Hernández is set to depart his managerial role at Barcelona at the end of the current season, creating much speculation about his successor. Rivaldo, a former Brazilian star of the club, has suggested José Mourinho as a viable candidate for the position.

"Many fans are resistant to hiring players or coaches associated with rival teams. However, José Mourinho is no stranger to Barcelona; he worked here with Sir Bobby Robson and is a respected figure. His coaching style is intense and sometimes controversial, which could raise concerns among supporters, but his track record as a winner is indisputable," Rivaldo explained during an interview with Betfair. "Given that Mourinho is currently unattached and considering Barcelona's circumstances, I believe it would be easier for him to take over than for Guardiola at this point. Mourinho would be an excellent choice despite potential opposition from some fans. His deep understanding of the team, the Spanish league, the Champions League, and his extensive experience would undoubtedly benefit Barcelona," he argued.

The discussion around Pep Guardiola's possible return to Barcelona continues to simmer, though it seems increasingly improbable. "I don't see Guardiola returning to Barcelona soon. The only likely scenario would involve his desire to return home for a quieter family life, which Barcelona could offer. Thus, any decision now depends largely on him. However, I believe it's very difficult for the next season. He's well-settled in England, and any potential return would also hinge on Barcelona's financial health and their ability to recruit players that align with Guardiola's vision," Rivaldo commented.

Rivaldo's tenure at Barcelona, spanning from 1997/98 to 2001/02, was marked by numerous team achievements and the prestigious Ballon d'Or, underscoring his deep connection and understanding of the club's dynamics. His insights into the managerial changes at Barcelona reflect both his experience and his ongoing affection for the club.
