Liverpool secures the first signing of the upcoming season with the acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister. The world champion joins from Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee. This is not expected to be the only addition for the Reds, as talks are already underway with other players.

Mac Allister caught the attention of several clubs during the World Cup in Qatar. The Argentinean played well in the tournament and was also attracting interest from Liverpool's arch-rival, Manchester United. The team coached by Erik ten Hag was keen on strengthening their squad with the midfielder, but reportedly, Mac Allister has chosen to join Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk's team, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The Argentine international is likely to sign until the summer of 2028, and Liverpool will be paying significantly less than previously reported. Many media outlets claimed that the fee would be around £60 million, but Liverpool will be activating a release clause that is lower than that amount. The medical tests will take place in the next 48 hours.

Once these medical tests are completed, Liverpool intends to swiftly move forward. Currently, discussions are underway with Manu Koné from Borussia Mönchengladbach and Khéphren Thuram from OGC Nice. Gabri Veiga from Celta de Vigo is also being monitored, although no talks have been held with him yet.
