Ten Hag sees the ranks at United thinning out ahead of the CL blockbuster

Erik ten Hag will not be able to call upon Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the start of the Champions League against Bayern Munich on Wednesday. The English right-back is likely to be sidelined for several weeks, Manchester United reports.

Wan-Bissaka sustained an injury during his brief appearance in last Saturday's home loss to Brighton & Hove Albion (1-3). Further examination will determine how long the 25-year-old defender will be sidelined, but United anticipates his recovery will take several weeks at least.

It's another setback for Ten Hag, who due to injuries, was already unable to call upon left-backs Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, as well as center-back Raphaël Varane. The Dutch manager still has Portuguese Diogo Dalot as a replacement for Wan-Bissaka, but the squad depth is thinning.

Up front and in the midfield, United is also currently plagued by injuries. Mason Mount, who joined from Chelsea, missed the last three league matches, while Deadline Day acquisition Sofyan Amrabat had to postpone his debut due to physical issues. In addition, young talents Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo are still sidelined.
