In an extensive press release, Austria has confirmed Ralf Rangnick's commitment to remain as the national team coach.

Rangnick expressed, 'I am wholeheartedly the national coach of Austria. I greatly enjoy this role and am determined to continue. I want to make it clear that this decision is not a rejection of Bayern, but a commitment to my team and our collective goals. Our focus is fully on the European Championship.'

Peter Schöttel, the sports director of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB), disclosed that Bayern Munich was not the sole interested party. 'We understood that he had two attractive options. We allowed him time to thoughtfully consider all aspects and are immensely proud that he has chosen to stay with Austria.'

Bayern previously attempted to recruit Xabi Alonso (Bayer Leverkusen) and Julian Nagelsmann (German national coach) as potential successors to Thomas Tuchel, only to be turned down by both.

Subsequently, Bayern engaged in detailed discussions with Rangnick. However, the 65-year-old coach agreed to continue with the Austrian national team and reportedly informed Bayern of his decision on Wednesday. Consequently, Bayern must restart its search for a new coach.

After the rejections from Alonso, Nagelsmann, and Rangnick, who all preferred to remain in their current positions, Bayern is no longer publicly naming potential candidates. This ongoing uncertainty has spurred a faction of Bayern Munich fans to initiate a petition advocating for Tuchel’s extended tenure. This movement has gained traction, potentially bringing the possibility of retaining Tuchel closer to reality.
