Two changes for Spain, Shaw starts for England

Luke Shaw will have his first starting position of this European Championship on Sunday evening in the final against Spain. He is preferred over Kieran Trippier as the left wing-back for England. Spain has made two changes compared to the semi-final against France.

Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente couldn't call upon Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand in the semi-final due to suspensions.

The defenders were replaced by Jesús Navas and Nacho. As expected, De la Fuente will rely on Real Madrid's right-back and Real Sociedad's center-back in the final. This move brings experience and stability back to Spain's defense, which will be crucial against a formidable English attack.

There are no surprises in Spain's midfield and attack either. This means Rodri and Fabián Ruiz will form a tandem, providing both defensive cover and creative support. Dani Olmo will be the most attacking midfielder in the absence of the injured Pedri, tasked with driving forward and linking up play. Euro 2024 stars Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams will pose threats from the wings with their speed and skill, aiming to stretch England's defense. Álvaro Morata, fit despite the scare after the win against France, will start as the striker, expected to lead the line and capitalize on any scoring opportunities.

Spain: Simon; Carvajal, Le Normand, Laporte, Cucurella; Rodri, Olmo, Fabián; Yamal, Morata, Nico.

For England, there is only one change compared to the semi-final against the Netherlands. In Dortmund, Shaw came on at the start of the second half on Wednesday evening. The left-back, who had recovered from a muscle injury, had already made his comeback as a substitute in the quarter-final against Switzerland. He is now fit enough to start. For the 29-year-old Manchester United defender, this is his first start since February 18, marking a significant moment in his career as he returns to the starting lineup in a major final.

In England's midfield, Kobbie Mainoo and Declan Rice will again be responsible for maintaining balance and connecting with attacking midfielders Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham. The latter two will frequently appear near Harry Kane, creating a dynamic and fluid attacking trio. On the right flank, Bukayo Saka will showcase his running ability, providing width and crossing opportunities to trouble the Spanish defense. England's setup reflects their blend of youth and experience, aiming to exploit Spain's vulnerabilities while maintaining solid defensive cover.

England: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Guéhi; Saka, Mainoo, Rice, Shaw; Foden, Bellingham; Kane.
