Every season in England, there are separate elections for the players' union and the press. The result of the Football Writers' Association is already known: Haaland has won with 82 percent of the votes, as announced by Manchester City via official channels. It is the largest margin ever since the introduction of the Premier League.

It's not a big surprise. The Norwegian joined from Borussia Dortmund last summer and charged through the Premier League in his first season. He recently made history by scoring his 35th Premier League goal, breaking a nearly thirty-year-old record held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole.

In addition, Haaland also provided seven assists, making him directly involved in no fewer than 42 City goals this season. This is partly why Pep Guardiola's team is in pole position for the championship. By the way, Haaland still has four matches to further improve his tally.

Haaland, with his honorary title, is the successor of Mohamed Salah. "To win this award in my first season is a great honor for me," the Norwegian responds. "I work every day to be the best version of myself. This recognition means a lot to me."

"I am enjoying my time at City so far. My teammates are incredible and offer me the opportunities to score. I also owe a lot of thanks to Pep and the coaching staff. Everyone has been so good to me, I have never worked with such top professionals," Haaland says.

"I also want to thank everyone who voted for me. It is a great honor to win this award. But now I am focused again on finishing the season as well as possible and helping City win trophies."

In the women's category, Sam Kerr has won. The Chelsea forward takes home the trophy for the second year in a row. Rachel Daly (Aston Villa) and Lauren James (Chelsea) came in second and third, respectively.
