Liverpool's defeat on Wednesday evening to their city rivals Everton, with a score of 2-0, has placed them in a precarious position in the Premier League standings.

They are now three points adrift of leaders Arsenal, and Manchester City, who have a game in hand, could potentially overtake them.

In the aftermath of the game, Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp highlighted the challenges his team faces in pursuing the league title. According to Klopp, not only does Liverpool need to improve their game, but they also require some misfortune to befall their key rivals, Manchester City and Arsenal, if they are to have any chance of topping the table.

"We need a crisis at Manchester City and Arsenal, and we need to win games. If they don't lose them and we keep doing what we did tonight [Wednesday night], nothing changes. And we still don't have our Champions League qualification guaranteed," Klopp emphasized the dire situation the team finds itself in.

Klopp further criticized his team's performance, particularly in their finishing. "We have to play better football. You can see that we're being hasty in front of the goal. We've been playing well, but we can't finish. It's not about attitude, of course the boys want to play well and score, no one is doing it on purpose. My job is to put them in a situation where they feel confident to be better. No one is happy with what we've done," he expressed, clearly dissatisfied with the recent outcomes.

This setback has added pressure on Liverpool as they not only strive for the league title but also to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League. With the competition intensifying and only a few games left, every match will be crucial for Klopp's squad as they attempt to salvage their season and achieve their ambitious goals.
