Manchester United fell on Saturday at Old Trafford against Crystal Palace and is experiencing its worst season start in 34 years. The problems for Erik ten Hag are getting bigger and bigger. 'You just don’t see any patterns.'

United has to settle for tenth place after seven matches. This is a highly disappointing start for Ten Hag, who also could not turn the tide against Palace. 'You just don't see any patterns. When you look at Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal, you see a clear pattern,' concluded analyst Paul Merson on Sky Sports.
The former international named the midfield as the biggest concern. 'Mount, Casemiro, and Fernandes don’t know what to do or where to play. Another loss and they are a million miles away... That's a huge problem. It's just playing the ball wide and hoping that Rashford does something. Maybe then they can score a goal,' said Merson.

The fact is that Rashford has not found his top form either. Ten Hag had to admit that too. 'That will come, but it doesn't happen automatically,' said the Dutchman after the defeat against Palace. 'He has to invest in himself and the team has to invest in him. We got into a good position today, but made the wrong decisions.'
