Weghorst stands for a return to the Bundesliga

Wout Weghorst is very likely to return to the Bundesliga. 1899 Hoffenheim appears to be planning to loan him from Burnley for a season.

Weghorst stands for a return to the Bundesliga

BILD and Sky Deutschland report that Weghorst will undergo a medical examination at the twelfth-placed team from the last Bundesliga season this Tuesday. The 31-year-old Dutchman previously played in Germany for VfL Wolfsburg. In January of last year, he left that club to join Burnley.

Weghorst realized his dream of playing in the Premier League with Burnley, but couldn't prevent the team from getting relegated. After this, the striker was loaned out first to Besiktas and then to Manchester United. He returned to Turf Moor this summer.

Under the leadership of Vincent Kompany, Burnley promoted back to the top level, but they do not require Weghorst for the upcoming season. Therefore, the striker is returning to the German fields. It is unclear whether Hoffenheim has also negotiated an option to buy.
