Despite being forty years old, Pepe is not done with football yet. The center-back has signed a new contract with FC Porto, which will keep him active for another season.
This means that Pepe is heading into his 24th season as a professional footballer. The Portuguese player is still a crucial player for FC Porto and recently proved to be in top form. With an impressive 40-meter sprint, he outran his opponent as if he were still in his younger years. Pepe is now under contract with the team until the end of next season.
"I am very nervous because this contract means a lot to me," Pepe said via the club's channels about his extension. "As a player and as a person, I want to be honest. I am forty years old and I owe a lot to Porto. I do not want to disappoint the club's president and the people. I want to thank everyone for making me a better person every day, but also as a father."
In his two spells at FC Porto, he has won twelve titles with the club, including four league championships. In early 2019, he returned to FC Porto after playing for ten years at Real Madrid and a year and a half at Besiktas. Pepe is also a 133-time international player for Portugal.>
